    ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ನಗರಿ ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ರಸ್ತೆಯೊಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿ ಸಿದ್ದರಾಮಯ್ಯ ಅವರ ಹೆಸರಿಡುವ ಪ್ರಸ್ತಾಪದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ವ್ಯಂಗ್ಯವಾಡಿರುವ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಕೈಗಾರಿಕೆಯ ಮಂತ್ರಿ ಕುಮಾರಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸಾಧನೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಇಡಲಿ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
    ಸುದ್ದಿಗಾರರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಅವರು ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ರಸ್ತೆಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಯಾಕೆ ಅವರ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಇಡಬೇಕು ಅವರ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ದೇವನೂರು ಬಡಾವಣೆಯ ಕೆಸರೆ ಗ್ರಾಮಕ್ಕೆ ಇಡಲಿ. ಅಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಅಲ್ಲವೇ ಅವರು ಬಹುದೊಡ್ಡ ಸಾಧನೆ ಮಾಡಿರುವುದು? ಎಂದು ಲೇವಡಿ ಮಾಡಿದರು.
    ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿ ಸಿದ್ದರಾಮಯ್ಯ ಅವರು ಕೇವಲ ಮೈಸೂರಿಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲ ಇಡೀ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರು ಬಹಳ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ರಾಜ್ಯಕ್ಕೂ ಅವರ ಹೆಸರನ್ನೇ ಇಟ್ಟುಬಿಡಲಿ’ ಎಂದು ವ್ಯಂಗ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು.
    ಈ ವಿಚಾರ ವಿವಾದದ ಸ್ವರೂಪ ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರೂ ಸಿದ್ದರಾಮಯ್ಯ ಜಾಣ ಮೌನದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಬೆಂಬಲಿಗರನ್ನು ಛೂ ಬಿಟ್ಟು, ಚಿತಾವಣೆ ಮಾಡಿ ರಸ್ತೆಗೆ ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಹೆಸರಿನ ರಾಜಕಾರಣವನ್ನು ಸಿದ್ದರಾಮಯ್ಯ ಕೈ ಬಿಡಬೇಕು’ ಎಂದರು.
    ನಾನು ಈ ಹಿಂದೆ ಬಿಜೆಪಿ ಜೊತೆ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೆ. ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿಯಾಗಿ ನಾನು ಮೈಸೂರಿಗೆ ಎಷ್ಟು ಕೊಡುಗೆ ನೀಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ? ಡಿಸಿಎಂ, ವಿಧಾನಸಭೆ ವಿರೋಧಪಕ್ಷದ ನಾಯಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಎರಡು ಅವಧಿಗೆ ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿಯಾಗಿ ಸಿದ್ದರಾಮಯ್ಯ ಮೈಸೂರಿಗೆ ಏನೇನು ಕೊಡುಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎನ್ನುವ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಚರ್ಚೆಯಾಗಲಿ’ ಎಂದು ಸವಾಲು ಹಾಕಿದರು.
    2006-2007ರಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ಮೈಸೂರಿಗೆ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಅನುದಾನ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಎಷ್ಟು ಮನೆ ಮಂಜೂರು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ಎಷ್ಟು ರಾಜಕಾಲುವೆ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಡಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ಜೆ-ನರ್ಮ್ ಯೋಜನೆ ಮೂಲಕ 2ಸಾವಿರ ಕೋಟಿ ಅನುದಾನವನ್ನು ಮೈಸೂರಿಗೆ ತಂದಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಅದೆಲ್ಲ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು ನಾನೇ ಎಂದು ಎಲ್ಲಾದರೂ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನೆಯೇ? ಅದಕ್ಕೆಂದು ಹಾದಿ-ಬೀದಿಗೆ ನನ್ನ ಹೆಸರಿಡಿ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆಯೇ? ನಾವೇನು ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ ಎಂಬ ಆತ್ಮತೃಪ್ತಿ ಇರಬೇಕು; ಅದು ಜನರ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿರಬೇಕು’ ಎಂದರು.
