ಜಗತ್ತಿನ ಅತಿ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ಮಹಾಕುಂಭ ಮೇಳ ಪ್ರಯಾಗ್‌ರಾಜ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಅದ್ಧೂರಿಯಾಗಿ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದೆ. 45 ದಿನಗಳ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಕೋಟ್ಯಂತರ ಮಂದಿ ಸೇರಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇದು ಗಂಗಾ, ಯಮುನಾ ನದಿಗಳ ಸಂಗಮ ಸ್ಥಳ. ಗುಪ್ತಗಾಮಿನಿಯಾದ ಸರಸ್ವತಿ ನದಿಯೂ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಗಮಿಸುತ್ತಾಳೆ ಎಂಬ ನಂಬಿಕೆ ಇದೆ.
ಆದರೆ, ಪ್ರಯಾಗ್‌ರಾಜ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ಮಹಾ ಕುಂಭಮೇಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಭವಿಸಿದ ಕಾಲ್ತುಳಿತದಲ್ಲಿ 30 ಜನರು ಸಾವನ್ನಪ್ಪಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ನಾಲ್ವರು, ಅಸ್ಸಾಂ ಹಾಗೂ ಗುಜರಾತ್‌ನ ಒಬ್ಬರು ಸೇರಿ ವಿವಿಧ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳಿಂದ ಪುಣ್ಯಸ್ನಾನಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಆಗಮಿಸಿದ್ದ ಭಕ್ತರು ಸಾವನ್ನಪ್ಪಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಕೆಲ ಗಾಯಾಳುಗಳನ್ನು ಸಂಬಂಧಿಕರು ಕರೆದೊಯ್ದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. 36 ಗಾಯಾಳುಗಳು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಆ ದುರಂತದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ನೋಡೋ ಮುನ್ನ ಕುಂಭಮೇಳದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಒಂಚೂರು ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಕೊಡ್ತೀನಿ ಕೇಳಿ. ಇದು 144 ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕೊಮ್ಮೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರೋ ಕುಂಭಮೇಳ ಅಂತ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಭಾವಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. 2019ರಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಂಭ ಮೇಳ ನಡೆದಿತ್ತು. ಈ ಬಾರಿ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವುದು 12 ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕೊಮ್ಮೆ ನಡೆಯುವ ಮಹಾಕುಂಭ ಮೇಳ. ಹಿಂದಿನ ಬಾರಿ ಕುಂಭ ಮೇಳದಲ್ಲಿ 24 ಕೋಟಿ ಮಂದಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಈ ಬಾರಿ ಮಹಾಕುಂಭ ಮೇಳದಲ್ಲಿ 45 ಕೋಟಿ ಮಂದಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುವ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆ ಇದೆ. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕಂತೆ ಉತ್ತರ ಪ್ರದೇಶ ಸರ್ಕಾರವು ಸಿದ್ಧತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದೆ.
ಕಳೆದ ಬಾರಿ 7,900 ಎಕರೆ ಜಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಂಭ ಮೇಳ ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಈ ಬಾರಿ ಶೇಕಡಾ 25ರಷ್ಟು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನು ಮಹಾಕುಂಭ ಮೇಳಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಬಳಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಕಳೆದ ಬಾರಿ ₹3,500 ಕೋಟಿ ವೆಚ್ಚದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಂಭಮೇಳ ನಡೆದಿತ್ತು. ಈ ಬಾರಿ ಮಹಾಕುಂಭ ಮೇಳದ ವೆಚ್ಚ ಡಬಲ್ ಆಗಿದೆ. 2019ರಲ್ಲಿ ಘಾಟ್‌ಗಳ ಉದ್ದ 8 ಕಿಲೋ ಮೀಟರ್ ಇತ್ತು. ಈ ಬಾರಿ ಅದನ್ನು 12 ಕಿಲೋ ಮೀಟರ್ಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ರೈಲು, ಹೆದ್ದಾರಿ ಪ್ರಯಾಣದ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯಲ್ಲೂ ಇದೇ ರೀತಿಯ ಹೆಚ್ಚಳವಾಗಿದೆ.
ಮಹಾಕುಂಭ ಮೇಳಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಮಹಾಕುಂಭ ನಗರ ಎನ್ನುವ ತಾತ್ಕಾಲಿಕ ನಗರವನ್ನೇ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಈ ಪ್ರದೇಶವನ್ನು ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಪ್ರತಿ ದಿನ ಅಲ್ಲಿ 50 ಲಕ್ಷದಿಂದ 1 ಕೋಟಿ ಭಕ್ತರಿಗೆ ತಂಗುವ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಆದರೂ ಕುಂಭಮೇಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಅನಾಹುತ ಸಂಭವಿಸಿದೆ.
ಮೌನಿ ಅಮವಾಸ್ಯೆ ಪ್ರಯುಕ್ತ ಪುಣ್ಯಸ್ನಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಭಕ್ತ ಸಾಗರ ಹರಿದುಬಂದ ಪರಿಣಾಮ ಕಾಲ್ತುಳಿತ ಸಂಭವಿಸ್ತು. ಸಂಗಮ್‌ನಿಂದ ಸುಮಾರು ಒಂದು ಕಿಲೋ ಮೀಟರ್ ದೂರದವರೆಗೆ ನೂಕು ನುಗ್ಗಲು ಸಂಭವಿಸ್ತು.
ಮಧ್ಯರಾತ್ರಿ ಕಾಲ್ತುಳಿತ ಸಂಭವಿಸಲು 2 ಕಾರಣಗಳಿವೆ. ಗಮ್ ಎಂಬಲ್ಲಿನ ಸೇತುವೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಇದರಿಂದಾಗಿ ಸಂಗಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೋಟಿಗಟ್ಟಲೆ ಜನ ಸೇರತೊಡಗಿದರು. ಸಂಗಮ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಮಾರ್ಗವಿದೆ. ಮತ್ತೆ ಹೊರಹೋಗಲು ಬೇರೆ ದಾರಿ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಸ್ನಾನ ಮಾಡಿದವರು ಅದೇ ಪ್ರವೇಶ ಪಡೆದ ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಪಸ್ ಆಗಬೇಕು. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ಜನ ಏಕಾಏಕಿ ಏರಿಕೆ ಆಗಿ ದಟ್ಟಣೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿತ್ತು.
ಅತ್ತ ಜನಸ್ತೋಮದ ನಡುವೆ ಜನರು ಕಳೆದುಹೋಗುವ ಆತಂಕದಿಂದ ಕೈಗೆ ಹಗ್ಗ ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಂಡು ಪುಣ್ಯಸ್ನಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಮುಂದಾಗಿದ್ರು. ಆಗ ನೂಕಾಟ ತಳ್ಳಾಟದಿಂದ ಕೆಳ ಬಿದ್ದವರಿಗೆ ಮೇಲೆ ಏಳಲು ಆಗಲೇ ಇಲ್ಲ.
