The FBI is here.
There are reports that FBI officials from the US investigating agency have arrived in Karnataka to investigate the bitcoin case, which has created a stir in the state’s politics.
The FBI team has been tracking down Sriki, the mastermind of the Bitcoin scam, to collect the details of many of his contacts. The investigating agency, which has not given any information to the state police in this regard, is tracing its own sources and investigating.
The development comes in the wake of rumours that some influential and strategically positioned politicians and IPS officers of the state are involved in the bitcoin karmakanda of Sri Ki.
An FBI team had informed the Union Home Ministry in this regard after it was found that Bengaluru was the source of the global bitcoin scam. The state police, which conducted an investigation on the centre’s instructions, had a glimpse of the viraat nature of Sriki’s arrest. Now, the news that the investigation team has returned to Bengaluru has created an uproar.
Home Minister Araga Jnanendra, however, clarified that no such investigation team has come to Bengaluru.
I am responding to the media only after getting information from senior police officers. No official has come to the state to investigate the bitcoin case. This is speculation, he said.
