ಬಿಟ್ ಕಾಯಿನ್ ಹಗರಣದ ತನಿಖೆ ನಡೆಸಲು ಸರ್ಕಾರ ರಚಿಸಿದ್ದ ವಿಶೇಷ ತನಿಖಾ ದಳ (ಎಸ್ ಐಟಿ )ಪ್ರಕರಣದ ತನಿಖೆ ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಿದೆ.ತನಿಖಾ ತಂಡದ ಮುಂದೆ ಹಾಜರಾದ ಶ್ರೀಕಿ ಪ್ರಕರಣದ ಕುರಿತು ಹಲವಾರು ಸ್ಫೋಟಕ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ.ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ತಮಗೆ ಶ್ರೀಕಿಗೆ ಕೊಲೆ ಬೆದರಿಕೆಯಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
ಇದರ ನಡುವೆ ಈತ ಏಕಾಏಕಿ ನಾಪತ್ತೆಯಾಗುವ ಮೂಲಕ, ಪೊಲೀಸರ ಸಿಗದೇ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಓಡಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವುದ ಎಸ್‌ಐಟಿಗೆ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಯಾಗಿದೆ.ಈ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆತನ ಚಲನವಲನಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿಗಾ ಮತ್ತು ಭದ್ರತೆ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ಶ್ರೀಕಿಗೆ ಗನ್ ಮ್ಯಾನ್ ನೀಡಿದೆ.
ವಿಧಾನಸಭಾ ಚುನಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಟ್ ಕಾಯಿನ್ ಹಗರಣ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೋಲಾಹಲ ಎಬ್ಬಿಸಿತ್ತು. ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವು ಪ್ರಭಾವಿ ರಾಜಕಾರಣಿಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಕೈ ಜೋಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂಬ ವದಂತಿ ದಟ್ಟವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಈ ಹಗರಣದ ಸೂತ್ರಧಾರ ಎನ್ನಲಾಗಿದ್ದ ಅಂತಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಹ್ಯಾಕರ್ ಶ್ರೀಕೃಷ್ಣ ಅಲಿಯಾಸ್ ಶ್ರೀಕಿಯನ್ನು ಸಿಸಿಬಿ ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಬಂಧಿಸಿ ವಿಚಾರಣೆ ನಡೆಸಿದ್ದರು.
ಶ್ರೀಕಿಯನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿಕೊಂಡು ರಾಜಕಾರಣಿಗಳು ಬಿಟ್ಕಾಯಿನ್ ಹಗರಣಗಳನ್ನು ಎಸಗಿದ ಆರೋಪವಿದೆ. ವಿವಿಧ ಸೈಬರ್ ಕ್ರೈಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗಿಯಾದ ಆರೋಪದಡಿ ಶ್ರೀಕಿ ಹಾಗೂ ನಾಲ್ವರು ಇತರರ ವಿರುದ್ಧ 2021ರ ಫೆಬ್ರವರಿ 22ರಂದು ಮೊದಲ ಆರೋಪಪಟ್ಟಿ ಸಲ್ಲಿಕೆಯಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಅಧಿಕಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್‌ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಈ ಪ್ರಕರಣದ ಮರು ತನಿಖೆಗೆ ಎಸ್‌ಐಟಿ ರಚನೆ ಮಾಡಿತ್ತು.
ಶ್ರೀಕೃಷ್ಣ (ಶ್ರೀಕಿ) ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ನಿವಾಸಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದು, 2014 ರಿಂದ 2017ರವರೆಗೆ ಈತ ನೆದರ್‌ಲ್ಯಾಂಡ್‌ ಆಮ್‌ಸ್ಟರ್‌ಡ್ಯಾಮ್ ಕಂಪ್ಯೂಟರ್ ಸೈನ್ಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಎಸ್‍ಸಿ ಪದವಿ ಪಡೆದ ಬಳಿಕ ವೆಬ್‍ಸೈಟ್ ಹ್ಯಾಕ್ ಮಾಡಲು ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದ್ದ.
